Scale a known paint formula to a new batch size while preserving its exact component ratios.
A paint formula can be scaled when its component ratios are already known. The Paint Formula Scaler preserves those mathematical proportions while calculating the quantities required for a different target batch size.
The scaler works with formulas containing 2 to 12 named components. Enter either known component amounts or a percentage formula, choose one consistent unit, and enter the required target batch size. The result preserves the mathematical component ratios of the submitted formula.
In Amount Formula mode, the original component quantities are added to determine the source formula total. The target batch is divided by that source total to calculate a scale factor, which is applied to every component.
In Percentage Formula mode, all component percentages must total 100%. Each percentage is converted directly into an amount for the requested target batch.
Suppose an amount-based formula contains 800 ml of Component A and 200 ml of Component B. The source total is 1,000 ml. Scaling that formula to a 2,500 ml target batch gives a scale factor of 2.5.
The scaler supports µL, ml, L, g and kg, but it does not automatically convert between mass and volume. Keep every component quantity in the same selected unit and make sure the target batch size uses that same unit before scaling.
This calculator performs deterministic formula arithmetic; it does not predict the physical color or performance of a paint mixture. Check component identities, units, source quantities and the requested batch size before using a scaled formula in practical production.
