Calculate Mulch Volume, Waste and Cost Before You Order
Use these steps to measure your landscaping area, choose a mulch depth, allow for waste and estimate the amount and cost of mulch you may need.
Choose the Mulch Depth
Enter the mulch depth in centimetres. The calculator converts centimetres to metres before calculating volume.
Depth in metres = Depth in cm ÷ 100
Calculate Volume for One Area
Multiply the area by the converted mulch depth to calculate the volume required for one landscaping section.
Volume = Area × Depth
Account for Multiple Areas
If you have several identical beds or sections, multiply the volume of one area by the number of sections.
Gross Volume = Volume per Area × Quantity
Add a Waste Allowance
Add a small allowance for uneven ground, settling and practical spreading differences before ordering material.
Final Volume = Gross Volume + Waste
